German-Egyptian Script Writing and Short Film Workshop

The German-Egyptian Script Writing and Short Film Workshop is a joint project for 8 GUC students and 8 students from the Universitaet der Kuenste (University of Arts) in Berlin.

The first project phase will take place between 20th and 28th April 2013 in Hurghada. Students will bring two of their own short stories to this workshop and work on transferring one of the stories into a first draft screen play. During the whole week German and Egyptian students will work in pairs on their scripts.

The second phase is scheduled 26th May - 3rd June 2013 in Berlin. All students will refine and finalise their screenplays. After this 2nd workshop we will choose 6 - 8 out of the 16 scripts to be turned into short films during autumn in Cairo.

The third phase will be during Winter Semester in 2013/14 in Cairo, partly joined by German students. We will plan, organize and shoot 6 - 8 short films within the regular winter semester schedule. Films are to be finished until December 2013.

The films will be presented in Cairo and Berlin and sent to short film festivals around the world.
