Course Definition:

The course goal is to introduce the possibilities and techniques of Digital Compositing. Major focus is on getting a general idea on how to combine computer techniques and plan to shoot footage for digital use.

Learning Outcome, Competences:

  • Practical knowledge in the field of digital compositing.
  • Knowledge of various image manipulation processes and combination possibilities.
  • Communication skills for talking to production people

Grade evaluation

1. Assignment 01 (30%)

2. Midterm: tbd (20%)

3. Final Project (including presentation): 50%


Assignment 1 Details:

Yourself as a hologram.

Film yourself in the green-screen-room and create a short scene of you as a "hologram" on a photgraphed background.

- Quality and detail (!!) are most important
- Only use your originally created visual materials.
- Single work - 1080p with 24 FPS. (4 to 5 seconds)
- Deliver in Quicktime H.264
- labeled StudentName_ID_Group_Assign01

- Presentation: week of 18th February
- Submission-Deadline: week of 25th February in class
- late submission = 0 points


Midterm:

Final Project:

The task is to create a highly imaginery scene, which actually would not be possible.

- Quality before quantity!
- Only use your originally created visual materials.
- No voices or any speech, the scene must explain itself.
- Music (as far as not licensed or CC licensed) is allowed.
- Sound effects are a must.
- max 3 persons/group, but teams support each other while shooting

- 1080p with 24 FPS
- Quicktime H.264
- labeled StudentName_ID_Group_Assign01
- Submission-Deadline: week of 29th April in class
- late submission = 0 points
